Seven of the Speechmatics team went to the Rosie Maternity Hospital, part of Addenbrooke’s, yesterday for a day of voluntary gardening for our charity of the year, Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT).
The team were shown the newly opened haematology department and got to see first-hand, examples of some of the work that ACT does. The team were involved in a range of gardening activities from weeding and pressure washing, to sweeping, bench painting and window cleaning. A lot of fun was had by all and everyone came away with huge smiles on their faces having put in a lot of hard work and effort for this cause.
As part of Speechmatics’ core perks and benefits package, employees are allowed one volunteer day off a year, whereby they can take a paid day off work to support a charity of their choice. The initiative gives employees the opportunity to make a difference in the local community and help support charities that are close to their heart.
extraordinaire, Charlie Brown said,
“It was great to be able to do something practical to help the Trust and support the work they do in improving the facilities at Addenbrooke’s. ACT’s aim is to raise funds for cutting-edge technology, additional specialist staff, environmental enhancements and extra comforts for patients that make all the difference over and above what is possible with the NHS funding alone. It is therefore massively rewarding to be able to help out wherever possible with this wonderful organisation.”
ACT is a fantastic charity that is dedicated to supporting innovation in patient care across Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals. Speechmatics is delighted to be supporting such a great cause this year and is planning to bring even more value to the charity over the coming months.
