The year powered by voice at CES 2018

Anyone that has ever been to CES knows how busy the CES week is. CES 2018 was no different and possibly even busier than ever before! This year was the first time Speechmatics exhibited at the show in Las Vegas with a goal of understanding consumer market trends and expectations for speech-enabled products, to develop existing customer relationships and start new ones.

The show began with 2 full days of rain after a 110-day drought – it was obvious the Brits had touched down in Vegas! With that, the attendees and press flocked to the exhibition halls. Between the rain and a power-outage at the LVCC, the footfall to the Speechmatics stand was constant throughout the week with a number of interesting conversations taking place. It was clear from the start that one of the key 2018 trends in consumer technology is voice. The majority of products were showcasing technology integrations with leading voice technology providers for assistant-based products. Speech and voice technology is everywhere right now and there is a huge demand for long-form ASR systems which is really exciting for the Speechmatics technology.

The Speechmatics stand was in Eureka Park which is known for its innovative products and technology at the show. We exhibited as part of the “Technology is GREAT” Department for International Trade pavilion and it was a brilliant opportunity to get to know other companies at similar growth stages to us. The show flew past in a blur of great conversations, customer meetings, press briefings and coverage with publications like CNET, CNN, The Times and techUK. Watch the show reel for an insight into the Speechmatics experience at CES 2018… until next year!
