What happens in Vegas, doesn’t stay in Vegas

We showcased our most advanced live automatic speech recognition technology to date and we had more partners than ever before, showcasing our technology integrated within their products on the show floor.

Last week, some of the Speechmatics team attended NAB Show in Las Vegas. NAB Show is the largest show for media, entertainment and technology, covering broadcast, TV, radio, production, post production and much more. Arguably our biggest show of the year, we had high expectations and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

We also demonstrated how speech-to-text can successfully be integrated into a media asset management (MAM) workflow with our partners, Ortana Media Group on our booth. The demo saw a lot of interest as this industry moves closer to adopting asset management and closing the data loop to make content creation more efficient. A key highlight from the show was announcing our partnership with Tedial. The award-winning product, SMARTLIVE, integrates Speechmatics’ automatic speech recognition technology to provide a fully integrated MAM solution. If you missed it, check out the video here. We were proud to have not one, but two of our partners recognised for awards during the show. Broadcast Bionics received an award for ‘Best of Show 2019’ which uses the Speechmatics technology. You can watch the video here for more information. Our partners, Limecraft were awarded ‘Product of the Year 2019 for AI and Machine Learning’. An impressive achievement which I would predict hundreds of companies at the show would have loved to have won.

As always, our partnership with Red Bee Media was front and centre throughout the show. On Tuesday afternoon, we hosted a networking event on the Red Bee Media booth, to showcase the first ever 24/7 live online automatic captioning demonstration in partnership with The ABC. The reaction and response to the accuracy and delivery of live captions was amazing and if you missed the reception on the day, you can see the demonstration here. Hewson Maxwell from Red Bee Media and Ian Firth from Speechmatics presented together at the show on the topic ‘Perfection: will it ever be possible using automatic speech recognition for captioning?’ A very relevant and current topic within the industry, and if you want to hear what they discussed, you can watch the video here. And if that wasn’t enough, I filmed our experience through the team’s eyes in my show vlog! Take a look below. That’s NAB Show done for another year, and we already can’t wait for 2020. #speechisthefuture Georgina Robertson, Speechmatics
