Speechmatics row 229km for ACT Charity

Ben LeamanGrowth Marketing Manager

The Speechmatics team hosted its very own sponsored Rowathon for our charity of the year, Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT). The team raised sponsorship money from friends and family with a target to row 135km, the equivalent distance of Oxford to Cambridge. After lots of hard work, motivational music, oranges, Haribo’s and protein bars, the team smashed its target by rowing a total of 229km in just six hours. We are very proud to announce that we raised a total of £498.75 for ACT charity. Special mention to Hills Road Sports Centre and Jesus College for lending us the ergs for the day!

Tom Wordsworth, Software Development Engineer and rowing extraordinaire said

“Smashing our target by nearly 100km was a huge success, but we were only able to do it because we had such great participation from everyone in the company. “The fact that all three machines were in use continuously throughout the day was really awesome, and we all had loads of fun raising money for a worthy cause!”

ACT is a great local charity that is close to lots of our hearts and is dedicated to supporting innovation in patient care across Cambridge. Speechmatics is delighted to call ACT our charity of the year, and we’re looking forward to the rest of our planned initiatives for them this year. We’re still accepting donations on our JustGiving Page, and all support is greatly appreciated.
