Beer and bumps with friends and family

Yesterday marked the return of the Speechmatics Q2+1 social event whereby the team gathered together with friends and family at The Plough in Cambridge to watch the annual Town Bumps*. After a successful internal launch of the company’s new vision and mission and a team lunch from Signorelli’s Deli, employees were encouraged to finish early and head over to the beer garden to show their support to the rowers whilst enjoying the Cambridge sunshine.

This year, Speechmatics had three representatives in the Cantabrigian crew and it was great to see so many people showing their support and cheering the guys on. A huge congratulations to Angus, Ricardo, Tom and the rest of the ‘Cantabs’ crew for both not getting bumped and also remaining first place in the top division, a great achievement for all involved. It was a fantastic team outing and a lot of fun was had by all. Special mention goes out to our honorary Speechlings for the day, Louis and Vinnie, both of whom had a great time watching the bumps and received lots of attention at work all day. Thank you to all employees and their +1s who came along and the best of luck to the Cantabs crew whose final race is this evening. *The Town Bumps is an annual rowing event in Cambridge whereby crews attempt to ‘bump’ the boat in front of them in order to progress to the tops of their divisions. For those interested, a full breakdown of the rules of bumps can be found here. Ben Leaman, Speechmatics
